Screamson 2 is about to end, but you still have time to watch all 11 episodes leading to the season 2 finale of this dark teen slasher drama mystery that is Scream, or as many refer to it as MTV SCREAM or more officially Scream: The TV Series. The conclusion to this wickedly eerie chapter airs this Tuesday, August 16 at 10PM. So many questions are becoming answered, but we’re also left with so many still wide open. Like last year in our MTV’s Scream – Season 1 Finale (Screamson 1), we’re going to talk about our thoughts on the new and current story, characters and the potential killer(s)/accomplice(s).
Contains Spoilers:
Last year, we wrote out all our perspectives of the characters the show had given us right before the finale. This time, the story has gotten deeper with certain situations as well as introducing many new ones. What’s Eli and Aunt Tina hiding? Who burnt the house down that Emma was in with Eli? Why are Audrey’s letters in Kieran’s house? Why did Zoe have to die after Noah was stalked for the first time? Is Gustavo making the deaths in his comic book or is he really just a twisted artist from living with a Sheriff as a father?
Let’s review our killer characters:
#FACETHEMASK
We recommend listening to Scream: Music from Season 2 while theorizing for added Scream-atmosphere.
Emma Duval – From her episodes in season 1 of hallucinating her father and her dead ex hottie Will, this 3 month gap has changed her. She is more paranoid and her dad, Kevin Duval, actually shows up for real this time. He’s a drunk, but now she’s finding places with pictures of her as a child on a pig farm and even sees herself reliving those moments from the photos in dreams. On top of that, she also dreamt of stabbing her best friends and lover, Kieran. But she is a fighter, and she won’t let this new killer get the best of her, although she could be oblivious to what she really means in all these murders when her mom was close to Brandon James, the Lakewood-acclaimed slasher of 1994. What will Emma find out about her past in this finale? Is she related to Brandon James? Is she a killer..?
Brooke Maddox – This chick has had her limelight this season with drunken public speeches at the carnival, to the pageant and of course, the tragic loss of both her on-and-off lovers Jake and Mr. Branson. Now becoming fond of bad boy graphic horror artist Gustavo, she seems to need someone around after all these horrors…especially since she found out her dad had it out for Jake. What could happen to her this time around? Last time, she was stabbed cold in a freezer. She played hard ball this season with Branson and then he died. Could she be one of the killers? It seems most of our victims this season revolve around her…
Noah Foster – Man, did Noah go from hacker nerd to whipped, virginal to virgin-less stabbed buddy in 0 to 90. He loves to talk movies, but soon discovers someone has been listening to him and sending his recording of Audrey’s “semi-confession” about bringing Piper to Lakwood out of his domain. Zoe had her name on the email and did send it, but with her gone, who made the video edit showing Audrey with Jake’s body with Ms. Lang’s hidden voice recordings of Emma’s threat? Is he making his movie to get back at the jerks of Lakewood? And killing those that cross him? He was never attacked until episode 20 (S2, E10) of this whole show. He didn’t care to listen to reason when people were being murdered, he sided with Zoe immediately over Audrey. What is he really up to? Will he take off the mask? Or will he continue the podcast in the finale per Gustavo’s request…?
Audrey Jensen – Since season 1, Audrey has been the center of the murders and in the beginning of this season, she is pranked by Haley at the movie theater job (which Noah shows up right after, I might add). She then is harassed by a psycho who keeps calling her “killer“. She wrote to Piper prior season 1 and now is being framed for these new murders. Has she honestly told everyone the truth? Especially when the killer clearly sees her as the main problem? In this finale, we may see some new truth to what Audrey has been hiding. She is a liar, a manipulator and possibly a murderer. One thing is for sure though, after this, her and Emma will never be the same.
Kieran Wilcox – First off, where has Kieran been this whole season!? Sure he’s helped Emma discover that Ms. Lang went to the Orphanage with Piper and recently, has found Audrey’s letters to Piper (that were supposedly burnt) and mister boyfriend himself was also found in the Brandon James get-up cloak and mask at the carnival, almost getting shot by a terrified Emma. Did he do the dirty deeds and vicious deaths in season 1 and then in 2 to avenge his father’s death? Perhaps because he’s the one who argued with his mom and step-dad, causing them to crash and die when he was little? That’s one way of growing up, but something tells me that he is too much of a protector to be such a villain in comparison to the killer. It is clear, though, that he has shown up plenty after the killer has disappeared. Is he damaged goods or the mysterious hero?
Gustavo Acosta – When cute and creepy become such a bitter soul, one wonders what that person is capable of. Gustavo is the son of the new Sheriff after the loss of Hudson (Kieran’s dad) last season, him and his father moved to Lakewood – even though his dad has ties with Maggie and Brandon James. Stavo draws the deaths of characters before they even happen, including hotel clerk Eddie, who hasn’t been discovered by the police until the burning house that Emma and Eli ended up at. So how does he know who and how these people are dying? Why is there a question about how long his friend was left dead before the police were called when he was younger shooting guns off? Why did he take Brooke’s lipstick? Was it the message in Emma’s locker? Is he helping or hurting the town of Lakewood? If anyone has a giant question mark on him, it’s this guy.
Maggie Duval – Emma’s mom is a coroner with lots of secrets since the departure of Brandon James after the Lakewood murders of 1994. She has a strong interest in death, but also shows how much she cares about Emma – who acts like any high schooler and doesn’t care what a rent has to say. She was shown mourning over the first Lakewood 6 victim, and was stabbed coldly by Piper last season. She reports to the new Sheriff, her long lost friend Sheriff Miguel Acosta, but there’s a question as to how the killer knows all about anatomy from pigs to people (mainly hearts being removed and replaced) as trinkets of hearts are also hung around houses as a gift. One could suspect Maggie is tormenting Lakewood for turning on her and Brandon James back then. Would she really come after her daughter and Audrey? Are they all related? Maybe she wants to connect with her daughter on a different level? She seems to be one of the good guys, however, protecting them as much as she can after the loss of her lover last season and almost being killed by Piper – the daughter she abandoned. Will she be a target in the finale or the one seeking more work for the morgue? Is she trying to make Emma the final girl?
Ms. Kristen Lang – This psych teacher has a lot to say about dreams and tells her class to start a Dream Journal. And it just so happens that after she secretly recorded conversations she had with students, that Emma’s Dream Journal was stolen by the killer. She has a lot to say about Emma’s psych until she is thrown into the game with a bashed head leaving her hospitalized. With ties to Piper, who she claims she never really even knew, there seems to be a lot of secrets behind her words. She screamed at Emma and Kieran (possibly seeing a shadowy Ghostface figure) and then lied to Sheriff Acosta about knowing Piper. So what’s she really so afraid of? Why did she receive dasies from Piper? What is behind her own psyche and is she helping or hurting the students of Lakewood?
Eli Hudson – Kieran’s cousin moved into town unexpectedly with his mom Tina and it sure seems fitting for murders to happen upon arrival. Not only are we introduced to Eli being creepy af greeting Emma in the hallway (without a visitor’s badge – I might add) and then falling for her almost on purpose, this guy shows anger towards his Cuz-o and likes to live the wild life by “Goldylocksing” breaking and entering habits living life on the wild side, but there are questions to be asked with him as well. Why was he watching Maggie leave a note in the tree like she did when she was with Brandon James that says “Don’t Hurt Her”? Or why did he take Emma to a house with two bodies in the bathroom? He could be helping figure it out, or he could be a creepy psycho. Nephew of the late Sheriff Hudson, one things for sure, he’s a hard one to read.
Aunt Tina – Moving with Eli to take care of Kieran, Aunt Tina finds herself angry at her family and hot for mayor. When Mayor Maddox asks her to do a favor, one could speculate it had to do with Jake, a house, or maybe victims. She was even called desperate. Arguing with her son Eli about something they are doing wrong, is she one of the killers or is she just caught up in more Lakewood bs?
Sheriff Acosta – Requested to come back to Lakewood, Miguel and his son Gustavo arrive in Lakewood to start a fresh slate after Stavo’s friend was head blasted. As him and Maggie work closely together to uncover the serial killer, there is something he knows that could be tying in all these horrific events.
Screamson 2
Our victims:
Jake Fitzgerald – The Jake. Plain and simp, pimp. Just as he was becoming less of a douche bag (even Noah knows it spraying it on his truck in season 1), Jake admits he really wanted to romance his childhood friend, Brooke. He helped her discover secrets of her father, but still lied about blackmailing the mayor for the video of the heroine chick dragged out of the trunk. As his jealously gets the best of him after a late night break in to the school swimming pool with his darling Brooke, he is asked to burn a farm – the farm that is visited so many times later in this season. When he gets bear trapped after a wind-up pig toy attracts his attention, poor Jake gets scythed to death, left in a storage locker to be discovered by Audrey and then hung up at the pageant to leave his lifeless body in front of the whole student body, pouring blood all over lover Brooke. When they kill a member of the surviving Lakewood 6, they really butcher the hell out of this guy. (Also note, a majority of the audience did not like the actor, so it’s only fitting to be extreme with this guy for fandom.) He still could have been involved with murders in season 1 with all his secrets and lies, but if that’s the case, why hasn’t Audrey gotten the same treatment?
Eddie Hayes – The motel clerk at the Crescent Palms who saw Piper and a female accomplice check in. Unfortunately, he is the one who isn’t checking out. Audrey didn’t want him to reveal info to Noah for his podcast in fear that she would expose him and got on a voice modulator. In turn, the killer murders him senselessly with a corkscrew from hotel wine delivery and then plants it in Audrey’s car. His body wasn’t discovered until Branson was burnt and if he would have told the truth, who knows what fate would have held for Eddie. He wasn’t even a target but as Audrey says, the killer murdered him just to prove a point. Or is there more to Eddie? And more to this killer…?
Mr. Seth Branson – Sleeping with female students seems to be a habit of Branson and when Brooke finds out he lied about his alibi to the police being involved with Ms. Lang, Brooke almost chops off his naughty bits, having stress over Jake being massacred. She handcuffs him to the bed post with a sleeping mask and soon after, the killer saws off his hand and heats an iron to keep him from bleeding out, cauterizing his wound for sinister and cyncial reasoning. When Branson is stabbed and almost killed in the high school, he was then transported to the vacant house where he was burned alive. The hand was then used as a display for when Audrey and Emma see the mayor in the barn, showing that this is all a game to the killer. Branson may have been accused for murder and for sounding eerily similar to the killer’s voice last season, but we know this season he is a victim tortured alive several times. But why now?
Haley Meyers – This bitch Haley pranked Audrey, made fun of Emma for having gone through her psychosis in the previous season and apparently has a “special friend” that organized a rave party at the Orphanage who hired her as the DJ. (OKay Paris.) Just as she is about to give favors to her new “special” lover in a BJ costume, her oral BJ is interrupted by a horrific stabbing leading to her brutal death. She then is displayed hung up on the beams of the venue with a message to the cops: FACE THE MASK. Was Haley involved from the beginning? Or was she solely a message of manipulation?
Zoe Vaughn – Mentioned in episode 1 in Screamson 1 by Riley as a friend, Zoe disappeared during the events in season 1 only to turn up as a match for lonely man-nerd Noah. As she analyzes events in psych class, she also discovers Audrey’s confession and emails it to someone. Then, she is found in Noah’s coffin in a hallucination as almost a spiritual guidance. When Noah tries to save her, he discovers her screams were pre-recorded and is left with a cold lifeless girlfriend. She took his virginity and the killer plays by the original Scream rules killing those who are promiscuous during an event like mass murder. Her death was tragic and sad and it hasn’t been this emotional since Riley Marra or Nina Patterson’s death even (though Will Belmont and Jake had it bad too.) Looking cold and gone in her pageant dress, Zoe befriended Brooke, hooked her up on alcohol and then took Noah away from the Lakewood 5. She really connected with him, but someone thinks she’s just a problem… will she come back as one of the accomplices? What will Noah become after knowing she drowned a horrible death inside a coffin? If any death was emotional this season, I vote her as one of the top emotional passings. Who helped who lead to this? No-eee Zoeeee!!!
Mayor Maddox – A mayor’s gotta do what a mayor’s gotta do and this whole time, he has been lying to his daughter about that crazy overdosed chick who hung out with mom and had to pay Will and Jake off plenty last season. Now his secrets are being exposed. The killer even infilitrates his office and finds the tape which puts the mayor back into the barn before he is porked by a pitchfork. The pig is killed in the killer’s mind and guess who gets to take the blame? Emma and Audrey try to save him, but the killer is one step ahead and now the blood is on their hands. What will happen now that Brooke’s father is dead? Will Audrey and Emma prove innocent? And again, why is all of the important people in Brooke’s life being picked off like shoo-flies?
The Deputy – We don’t know much about Dwayne, but he tried to save Emma in the creepy funhouse episode, only to be plummeted through glass. Is he dead? We think so. He hasn’t shown up since then and I mean, cops who go in alone come out alone… or end up massacred according to Scream.
Piper Shaw – Ghostface murderer extraordinaire, Piper came to Lakewood doing podcasts on her popular show and befriends Emma helping her along, but in turn was manipulating and lying to her to get close just so she could tear her to shreds. Jealous that Emma got the perfect life that she never had (Piper was in The Orphanage left abandoned), she claims her reasoning is to hurt Emma and those around her. When she reveals herself, she comes after both Maggie and Emma before she is shot by Audrey. When Audrey and Emma are played by the killer to find her body in the Orphanage, they see that she really is dead, in Psycho fashion, she is in a chair facing the other way. So now that she’s dead, who is pulling the strings and seeking revenge? Is it because Piper is dead or for more reasons?
The speculation that I have is that Audrey is more involved than she says she is. We saw at the end of season 1 her burning letters she wrote the masked murderer Piper Shaw, but is Piper even the mastermind? Who did she kill? Is this new killer Piper’s third accomplice if Audrey is one already? The killer seems to call Audrey the real “killer” this season and I feel like that means Audrey did in fact murder some people last season. Her DNA was on the mask, she knew that they were at the bowling alley after the phone lost service, she hated Nina and Emma for the longest time, and her voice was on the phone before Rachel got hung up on (literally). If we aren’t given many of these answers next season, who is to say we will ever get them? Will it be conclusive or will it be left open for a different continuance in season 3?
As stated in last year’s article, I still think it’s Noah, Audrey and that Jake was involved – which is why the Jake was killed so early this time. It would be insanity if 2 killers were unaware of each other’s killings and were playing each other only to reveal that it was them the whole time. Killer vs. Killer. It hasn’t necessarily been done before like that. We may even use it for our next project if this proves different than we theorize. Kieran Still Doesn’t Make Sense
If he was the killer and showed up every time, where the hell is he hiding the costume and Brandon James mask on several occasions?
Noah and Gustavo shared a moment.
Ms. Lang says that one can convince another of events that aren’t real.
Audrey would have been called out by Kieran if it was the true accomplice because the killer called Audrey the killer and partner.
The killer is shown to have found Kieran in prison and that same voice called him.
Kieran is not the true accomplice. It’s all a head game.
Audrey and Noah are still the killers IMO and are telling Gustavo to help make the movie.
Kieran never said anything about displaying murders.
He simply said he had a love affair with Piper. That could be Audrey manipulating Emma’s head as she pointed to Kieran in season 1.
Audrey is the one who loved Piper.
Kieran is and has not ever been a killer.
Audrey shot Eli or maybe Emma did in memory of Piper. The 2 of them kill who they thought was the mystery killer…
But it was all Audrey… maybe Emma… Noah
.. Gustavo…
Brooke may now be a hunchback but on the real…
Who is behind the real mask!???!!!?
Scream Halloween episodes coming this fall. Season 3 next summer 😉
Also –
It follows with Scream After Dark right?!
Watch the Halloween clip.
Kieran is not a female as Eddie described unless he went in drag.
Audrey called Eddie in that voice.
Audrey kidnapped Noah.
Audrey hates everyone.
Audrey disappeared in the theater.
The killer wants to blame suspicion.
Audrey maybe now loves, Brooke so she killed everyone close to her since Emma wrote her off.
But I mean if Ms. Lang thinks both Emma and Audrey have a shared psychosis, it’s possible that Audrey warped Emma into believing that Kieran and Eli was the killer.
Split personality.
It’s not hard to think outside the box but can be for some.
Not everything is straight forward.
Trust Nothing. Trust Us. 😉
(Hey, you never know!!) There are a lot of things unanswered…
Movie_Buff_Brad confirms Audrey has to be involved! Not to mention her cloak in the finale.
From IMDB BOARDS:
Audrey, bar none.
Episode 1 – I know for a fact Piper had an accomplice, because Piper was with me when Rachel died, plus Will said he was with Piper when they were attacked, but meh, it’ll probably blow over. Also, this person taunting me on the phone who even has my letters to Piper is probably unrelated.
Episode 2 – I thought if I just did nothing, the killer from season 1 would retire. Whoops. Looks like it cost Jake his life. Rather than come forward now, I’m gonna pluck these sticky notes from Jake’s body and leave the scene of a crime so now there’s actual evidence against me.
Episode 3 – uhoh, Noah is about to open this video file. Better grab this statue and raise it over his head suspiciously. If I’m going for his skull, I’m a deranged lunatic. If I’m going for his laptop, I’m an absolute retard because the camera is what is broadcasting the video, and I’ll look guilty either way…wait, false alarm. Phew.
Episode 4 – this Stavo cat is suspicious. Even though he wasn’t even in Lakewood during Piper’s killing spree, I’ve got my eye on him. Also, sucks to have your bf’s rotting corpse fall on you, Brooke. Guess I should have reported the body after all.
Episode 5 – It’s Stavo, I’m sure of it now even though that makes no sense with what I know. Also, Noah is really pushing this “Piper had a partner” thing. Even though Noah himself talked with Piper about BJ, I’ll just continue keeping my BJ talks with her to myself.
Episode 6 – okay, Noah is onto me. Guess I’ll have to finally tell him the truth…but only after knocking him out and kidnapping him doesn’t work.
Episode 7 – I told Noah I would tell Emma last episode. Now I’m saying I’ll never tell her. Doop de doo.
Episode 8 – you know, Kieran just went full psycho on Eli. And I also saw him in Rachel’s video with Nina, making him the only suspect for her murder. I was DEAD SET he killed her last season, but for some reason I’ve just completely forgotten this for three months.
Episode 9 – Here’s the whole truth, Emma: I was making a documentary on how some high school jocks drove a deformed kid to murder. This would make the whole town sad, or something. I knew Piper was BJ’s daughter, but figured it was just a coinky-dink that the murders started when she showed up. Please love my totally innocent character.
Episode 10 – Predatory lez.
Episode 11 – It’s gotta be Eli. Kieran found those letters he himself could have planted. Though Eli has zero reason to have killed Rachel. If only there was someone I know who did…
Episode 12 – It’s confirmed, Kieran was Piper’s accomplice and I’m 110% innocent. Now I can remain the tough, sarcastic, badass, bisexual, atheist, movie-loving Mary Sue the whole audience adores, even though I’m so stupid at this point I make Emma look like an astronaut.
Kieran’s True feelings Kieran’s True Feelings
For Emma must not have been to want to kill her quickly or he could have easily done it. So why did he keep her around? I wonder if in the Halloween special that if he truly isn’t a hallucination of Emma’s, that he explains why he was always so protective, when at any time, he coulda killed her for his Piper love revenge.
Let’s say he’s not a sociopsycopathocialogical liar for a minute and that he really did end up for falling for Emma. He did risk a lot to keep her protected in both seasons.
Or on the darker note, he had sex with “his Piper’s” half sister for pure bliss and Piper loved it and maybe even have told him to freak her halfsis so forever they could torment and blah blah blah. Evil murder spree.
I like the “mysterious protector” Kieran rather than the “I always show up and throw my invisibility cloak into the air and nobody ever finds it and I do that so you don’t suspect I’m the killer and prove how much I care but I’m a liar” Kieran.
The fuq is wrong with ppl to manipulate and hurt. I know that he would at least have been hateful or abusive to her once if this is true. So therefore what are his true feelings both seasons?
I’ve listened to both soundtracks and hear the references to relationships and let it soak in what these people really went through and why they did what they did. It can be gripping. And it makes you wonder.
