40 Days of Success

Dreamers follow an unwritten journey leading them up different winding paths, opportunities and experiences as each passing day comes to light. Though, some believe everything is destined to happen, we continue to strive for collaboration, endurance, confidence and achievement to reach and make these goals. Sharing this unique experience we call life can be rewarding and even disappointing at times, but as we hold onto our inspiration and faith, we find that anything is possible.

As owner, director, producer and writer amongst many other roles (cinematographer, singer/rapper, editor, production assistant, etc.) for Trippy Tran Films and other production companies, I have been continuing the dream and doing my best to complete some of our projects in the balance. Our goal still includes releasing our feature film debut Obliquity: Imagery of the Unknown to festivals and audiences worldwide.

I’ve always been open to joining forces with other people in the entertainment industry and our love for creating and connecting will only continue to expand. (We encourage everyone to never lose sight of what they want in life!) Here are some of my own biggest feats, a new entry showcasing 40 Days of Success and determination up to this point in my life. Check back for new entries starting March 1, 2017. Believe in yourself. Believe in others.

Day 1 – New Music from Trippy T

Trippy T - Anthony Tran - CXL Photography IMG_0311

True artists are always making music whether it’s publicly released, finalized or not. This image is taken from the photo shoot on location of my new music video TBA (shhh! – details yet to be revealed!) There are a lot of surprises with the new songs and the upcoming Centerpiece EP. Working with celebrity model photographer Chris Anthony of CXL Photography fall 2016 was refreshing. I felt as I could really be myself in this video, now having lived in Los Angeles for almost 3 years and loving the SoCal atmosphere.

You can check out my reverbnation.com/TrippyT page to hear potential tracks for the EP Centerpiece – which is currently in the works and be sure to follow  facebook.com/TrippTMusic

Day 2 – Co-Producer and Cameo Role in Sovereign Entertainment’s Devil’s Point

Throwback to the club scene in the new movie Devil’s Point that I co-produced and made a cameo in with these lovely stars of the film (Alexander Sedlak and Kait Stay). It’s been since 2011, but great things take time. We hope you can’t wait to see this supernatural horror from Sovereign Entertainment and Trippy Tran Films!

Day 3 – Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Sports Awards Post Party Staff (2015-?)

Working Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Sports Awards Post Party Event 2015 & 2016.

Growing up watching Nickelodeon myself, it brought me joy to pump up the youth for their photo op and was in overall exciting to be part of such an exclusive event for a second year in a row.
In 2016, I was teamed up with the basketball photo booth guys and helped kids and families get their star photo moment with their print used as the backboard for a mini-bball hoop and was also given my own hoop.

In 1 week, the Kids’ Choice Awards will be hosted and airing March 10, 2017 on Nickelodeon.

Day 4 – Director of Photography on Long Beach, CA web series MÆRY QUEENS

20150809_121707

Maery Queens – Long Beach with Anthony T. Tran as director of photography.

Working with the cast of Mæry Queens as official Director of Photography on season 1 (available to watch for free) where I worked with MTV Brasil actor Anthony Moore (Malady, Into the Shadows), Kyle Mosonyi  (“Gone” Music Video) and Ashley Hernandez (My Vacation In L.A. – Top 10 Countdown) and of course the rest of the stellar cast involved.

Production took place throughout the month of August 2015 and the first 4 webisodes premiered in April 2016 with a red carpet premier at one of the filming locations: The Silver Fox. I used facebook Live during the event highlighting some of the star moments, interviews with most of the cast and even spoke on stage in front of the audience.

I became so passionate about this project that I ended up writing additional segments to the show with solo confessionals with each character in between episodes that started after episode 4. It also marked my first major role debut in Long Beach and first cinematography role in Los Angeles County.

Day 5 – COEXIST wins Audience Choice award for CMF 2009 in Greater Cincinnati

Winning our first movie award in the city for our horror short COEXIST and pictured with legendary synth-funk group Midnight Star’s Bill Simmons who was also one of my instructors.

In my final project in college at Brown Mackie Cincinnati, I had already directed 3 original shorts and several other music video projects, etc. Before #ObliquityMovie was started, this was the film that encouraged me to continue following my passion as we won an Audience Choice Award for a horror film in 2009! If anyone remembers that Era, horror films were coming out left and right and it was hard to find anything original. To this day COEXIST by @trippytranfilms remains bold, thought-provoking and unique.

Day 6 – Assistant National Contest Admin for iHeartRadio contests & Clear Channel Media + Entertainment (2011-2014)

Hired at Clear Channel Media & Entertainment AKA #iHeartRadio for 3 years with 3 different job titles for radio nation.

In the birthplace of radio, Cincinnati, OH I had a good friend who saw my passion and ambition for working in entertainment. In 2011, I was hired to run national contests including giving away $1000 more than 5 times a day as well as trips to the iHeartRadio Music Festival in #LasVegas, plus, exclusively with my boss ran the private show #contest for the Justin Timberlake 20/20 Experience debut and Miami and L.A. shows and pool parties with America’s top artists.

I then was hired for commercial dubbing then music in production tech. I trained and worked with original members of Blessid Union of Souls I left the job to pursue my film endeavors in #California. Here I’m pictured with KISS 107 FM host Jare E. J and WEBN legend Shroom. Also pictured is the UK’s Morning Parade and Brian Aubert of Silversun Pickups in the Coke Lounge. Both great guys to be studio neighbors with. For fun, you can hear my radio voice in our short film #MyVacationInCincinnati

Watch Morning Parade’s “Alienation” music video

It’s not been the same since and I do miss the main jobs I had, especially sending people to big festivals and hearing their excitement when awarding them. The festival played live yesterday on broadcast television.

Day 7 – 27 Bands and Artists on our upcoming film debut Obliquity: Imagery of the Unknown

You may not be able to see all 27 bands and artists in this collage, but when we started our feature film debut, we never imagined networking with over 100 bands and artists talking submission, free posters that we’d provide to promote, and even some of the leading acts making a cameo appearance in the film. We ended up collaborating with over 150 people nationwide. Obliquity is a film that drew people in for having a positive outreach, wanting to unite several talents with the idea of us all promoting each other. A true collaboration – especially on the indie front.

When I was 21, I began another attempt at making a feature (my first was when I was 16 for an outrageous parody film The Dumbest Horror Flick Ever) after COEXIST had taken an audience award voted on by college students: the upcoming generation. I created a film that I wanted to resonate with people that went beyond some of the garbage that Hollywood was putting out by making a movie that spoke to the human soul with ideals to open people’s minds and showcase undiscovered talent (some that were well on their way) by bringing forth a colorful connection.

You can check out a list of bands and artists here and on IMDB for a full list of songs and names. The movie track “Obliquity” by ALTERED premiered on WEBN 102.7FM Greater Cincinnati local radio. Two music videos have been made so far for our upcoming psychological thriller including “Empty Minds” by punk rock band Killer Looks and Noise. Check out the work from affiliated bands & artists on our soundtrack and let us know your favorite tracks in the comments section.

Day 8 – Official Videographer/EditorProject SpARCH (STEM) Fundraiser

SpARCHing a new change in our community and across the nation.

Continuing the journey in Ohio back in 2012, I was asked to help bridge the connection between the University of Cincinnati and Hughes High School by filming a crowd-funding video that would kick off the STEM program where college students mentored high school students for their next stages in life in their field by creating an academic bridge. Advocate David Mierke approached me about collaborating, and after a successful meeting, I asked Josh Luckett of EZ World Entertainment to assist me on the production that would soon start a positive spark in education.

Watch the Project SpARCH video

The two of us worked with Dave and Jenna as well as the principal of Hughes High and the director of SAID/DAAP teachers. We recorded a variety of students showcasing their skills regarding architecture and design, math and science as well as their excitement for the program. After the video was featured on indiegogo and facebook, STEM ended up coming to fruition by gaining national attention from Washington D.C. and broadcasts on network news.

New Web Series ‘MÆRY QUEENS’ Hires Anthony T. Tran for Director of Photography

MÆRY QUEENS
New Long Beach Gay Web Series
Coming Spring 2016

MÆRY Queens castA set of diverse gay friendships are put to the test when a threat to kill the host’s cat surfaces at an otherwise fun birthday party. Get ready for the new dramedy mystery MÆRY Queens.

Chance happens only so many wonderful times in our lives and for an uprising career path in a cut throat industry, it can be a difficult endeavor for a newcomer to Los Angeles. There’s Hollywood, Studio City, Burbank, dozens of beaches, atmosphere, celebrities that breathe the air (and the money) with no surprise running into someone famous in the Greater L.A. Area.

In June 2015, Anthony Rory Tran and Keithopher Webb went to Long Beach pride and it wasn’t until the next morning that Keithopher handed him a card he received at the festival. Being an aspiring actor and film maker, A. Tran decided to email them, mentioning his work under singer/songwriter/rapper name Trippy T and mentioned his connects with other talent that could be interested in submitting and collaborating to the series.

Soon after, Anthony received an email and was asked to audition for the roles of Ian and Dustin. He met with the director Henry Corzo and shared with him his ties on making a national community film project back in Cincinnati, OH. Henry then called him back a week later to help film an audition with Kyle Mosonyi and Alex Correa in Long Beach, CA.

It was a couple weeks later when Tran saw his name highlighted and thought that he had also been cast. Sharing videos before auditions, at the end of the day Corzo asked him to become the Director of Photography of this project. Jobs for a DP include running camera, directing the overall quality and uniqueness to the look of the film (Mæry Queens), choosing depth, frame rates, lighting, rigs and more. Humbly honored, Tran took the position.

Now as the Director of Photography also abbreviated as DP or DoP (that’s dope without the ‘e’ that’s how dope the DoP role is), we anticipate the October release and wish Corzo, Tran and team with the project.

MÆRY Queens wraps production today, 8/30/2015.

CALLING ALL MUSICIANS:

Chris Corman was without a doubt the band No Doubt’s biggest fan and even moreso of Gwen Stefani. His dream came true when she called him on stage and he got to do a dance with her in front of thousands of people including taking a selfie together. The video can be seen below.

We are trying to reach out to Gwen’s publicist and managers about the loss of Mr. Corman and see if she’d be up to seeing his starring debut feature film role in Obliquity: Imagery of the Unknown. Melissa S. wrote:

It’s heartbreaking to hear that the joy and enthusiasm and dedication of Christopher Corman will no longer light up the room. I was his director on several projects including our feature film debut Obliquity: Imagery of the Unknown which is still seeking postproduction help. We did get to premier it at the end of 2013 and he did get to see his big screen debut in the theater so I’m happy he got to have yet another shining moment. He also starred in our 48 Hour Film project My Vacation In Cincinnati and always made people laugh.

To all his friends and family, I have tons of footage with Mr. Corman, a lot hasn’t been released yet. If anybody needs anything for his funeral, please let me know. I reside in Long Beach, CA where Chris and I talked about moving near there.. well Anaheim. Sadly, it never happened. We will honor and remember this unique soul and I hope when we release the feature film that we can remember him in a beautiful way for his passion and hard work as well as being such a fun guy to be around. Do The Apple Turnover! 10 More Tummy Ticklin’ Original Vids with TTF Produced Commercials! (Skits Part 2)

Trippy Tran Films - STAR LOGO HiResLast week, we listed 10 skits that have tummy tickling moments and we even listed all related videos including the future soon-to-be PocaHeyHey official, the reincarnate of Pocahontas in today’s society, plus character parodies like Titney Spears, Selena Stop!mez, Marie AntoiNOT!, the MSI “Prom” music video, the hilarious radio spot “Leatherware” and more. Well, you didn’t think it would stop there, did you!? Trippy Tran and Trippy Tran Films have been making professional videos and zany comedy skits since 2007 (and owner/operator Anthony Rory Tran has been writing since he was an itty bitty wittle kid.) Here’s 10 more skits! And look! You don’t have to worry about annoying ads all over the page (besides a select few of our own which we implore you to check up on it.) Also, you don’t have to click a Next page button constantly just to finish the article! It’s all listed below!

#1 Do The Apple Turnover! (Churry Churry)

In 2011, Arby’s was having a Cast Calling contest and Anthony “Rory” Tran aka artist Trippy T was on it. In less than a week, he called his local Arby’s (one with the original cowboy hat – those come few, far and between nowadays!) a flash mob of diverse folks, a killer food rap, a hot beat from Greg Durham aka Godtchie (who collaborated with Tran on the song “Mind ArC” for the COEXIST movie soundtrack – see our movies), the mixing style of Michail Sinenko aka Sonanze and the writing collaboration with Hapless aka J.B. Luckett of Eazy World Entertainment (see his debut music video) who also stars in the video as Tran’s hype man.

The video has gained the most fans and views for on a video for the Trippy Tran Films channel up until recently, now being the 2nd highest video with over 4 thousand views on the Trippy Tran Films channel with the highest count of views being our #2 video… (see below)

#2 SIPPY BEARS Juice Bar, Smoothies & Wheat Grass Lemonade

Chef Dan immediately called Anthony Tran about filming commercials for his new business Panda Chefs. He hired Tran to film and edit his commercials from Sushi Bears to Bolly Bears (Indian Cuisine) to the Panda Chefs Shark Tank audition tape sent to ABC as he was being considered, Classy Beading (jewelry making) to Sippy Bears at Findlay Market in downtown Cincinnati, OH. Together, they made promos and tutorial videos to all the delicious exotic ethnic options including the emerging hype of wheatgrass being a new health trend. For some odd reason (that our market research hasn’t full grasped) the Sippy Bears is the most viewed promo and is officially now the most viewed video on the Trippy Tran Films channel at over 6 thousand views! Why do you think that is? Comment and see all the promos below!

#3 CONAN! Please Blow Up My Car

In 2010, Conan O’Brien had a contest for everyone in the US to submit their crappiest vehicle video and submit it to NBC for the Conan O’Brien Show. The winner was in the same town the studio was in, Los Angeles, CA where Tran now resides. Too bad his car wasn’t in LA so they could blow it up on site. We might have won!

The selection description on their site mentions:

Working in conjunction with the writers of “The Tonight Show with Conan O’brien” we created this fun promo for the launch of the Lexus HS. From over 3,000 video submissions, Conan picked a winner of the worst car in America who would win the Lexus HS in exchange for his car being blown to bits.

You can see the winner here: http://vimeo.com/29120716

#4 Dorito’s Entry feat. MMA Fighter Chad Hinton

Actor Bobby Long approached Tran about doing a Dorito’s contest entry for the Super Bowl. Always game to collaborate, Tran united a team of people to create a video, and the resources included MMA fighter Chad Hinton and his own daughter in the video! Dorito’s bags spinning around his head by graphic/VFX artist Dan Hollandsworth made this video extremely memorable and a tummy tickler for sure, even if it didn’t win the contest (like most our vids – sad face !) There’s competition out there for sure, but isn’t it really about creating and collaborating to make unique and original videos? MMA fighter Chad Hinton thinks so!

See director/writer Anthony Tran’s “COEXIST” starring Bobby Long – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8PqUbrTaCw coming soon to The Official Trippy Tran Films Shorts Collection 2008-2015. Read about the epic DVD release here. Future articles about the double-disc set coming soon.

(Here’s hoping everyone’s still married!)

#5 Ke$ha at LA Pride 2015

Well Ke$ha made a comeback that Saturday night at LA Pride this past year. Tran attended the aftermath and went to the parade; but when we stepped through the gates, there was a lot of trash. Needless to say, it made a funny Kesha’s “glitter trash” parody.

See PocaHeyHey and other skits here – https://trippytranfilms.wordpress.com/2015/07/09/pocaheyhey-10-skits-that-will-tickle-your-tummy-da-rigghhht-wayyyy/

#6 Pimp Cups!

In 2007, Tran started at Brown Mackie College and graduated with an Associate’s of Applied Science degree in Audio/Video technology in 2009. The first storyboard project had to be done right, Tran said to himself – and even though the “Object of the Game” assignment was to film an angle, cut the camera and repeat to complete the project, Tran took it upon himself to do a small amount of editing so he could “disappear” from the pimp cups, which when premiered in front of his class, wowed the crowd.

See Tran’s “Drug Deal” featuring Izal Mane and Rel for a DP assignment he lead after he was recovering from being sick for the end of the month for a lighting class project – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oB6gQ0zNpo8 and the next video features them as well!

#7 “Get Looney On ‘Em!”

Whilst Tran attended Brown Mackie, they helped film videos for a whole bunch of local Cincinnati artists including big time Showtime music vid (we shot the Goonies video which never was released) as well as Izal Mane and Rel’s old group Cincinnati’s Most Wanted. The students all got to help production, but each student was given the chance to do their own edit for a grade. Above is Tran’s edit. Honestly, Tran got a C+, but looking back at it now, if we had more time, we would perfect the video, but shoot, this is a Looney Tunes anthem for real! How hot is their take on being “looney”. Fresh. Dope. Real. Why are we so underground homies?! Ha.

Video directed by Shawnna Johnson who also currently resides in California. Read her article on Tran and check out her site here – http://producershawnnajohnson.wordpress.com/2015/06/13/anthony-rory-tran-freelance-director/

See Izal Mane’s latest hit music video “Feed A Mouth” – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnvkqRic6rk

#8 Radio Shacker!

Once again, another school project makes its way on our list. This hilarious video removed the original commercial’s audio for an assignment to redub the entire commercial. Thinking outside the box, Tran not only wanted to redo all the sound effects, music and voice overs, but instead, rematch it with a lip sync parody vid having Howie from Radio Shack say “can you transfer this cute white pussy to all my friends and family”. Yeah. We went there. See for yourself how well we matched lips and recreated the audio of a popular commercial. Featuring the voice announcer of Jeff Winkelman of Who Productions, Anthony’s main instructor at Brown Mackie College-Cincinnati.

On July 16, 2015, Tran worked did more for sports as a P.A. on Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Sports awards post party event! Due to a knee injury from a serving job in SoCal, he wasn’t able to do as much as he wanted, but being at UCLA helping the team at the Lost Child Meet-Up Point and Lost and Found. With film makers Kimbra McCaul and Dustin Young.

#9 A Suphero Birthday Party!

Filming our debut feature Obliquity: Imagery of the Unknown came with connecting with our cast and crew, and in this case, actress Tia Casey and members of the rock band The Upset Victory. Together, we celebrated Tia’s birthday wearing superhero costumes made from table cloths and styrofoam masks.

Unfortunately, later in the evening, Tran was jumped by two guys near the band mates car. Tran said “what’s up” to them and the next thing you know, was beaten to the temple with pounding fists for over a minute until his friends left the bar and realized what was going on. It was like a black out. The attack occurred at Bellevue Vets in which there were security cameras and was by a main street off of the Newport exit, but the officer let the attacker go right in front of everyone and didn’t do anything for the ruthless attack. Luckily, only the good memories were captured above and one might call The Upset Victory including the guitarist’s heroic brother for being a superhero at the end of the night.

#10 ACTV Special featuring German Commercial parody, The Dumbest Horror Flick Ever Behind The Scenes, Music Videos and more!

Let’s time travel back to when Tran was a senior in high school and was still (and still is) very passionate about film work. He took 2 years of German and was finishing some scenes for The Dumbest Horror Flick Ever after making the MSI “Prom” cover video before and after his Junior Prom and was asked to submit to public broadcasting featuring his works. This special is about 25 minutes and includes a lot of Tran’s earlier work.

A few years later, ACTV in Anderson Township, banned Anthony Tran from airing videos on their public broadcasting saying our work was “too commercial”. When Tran released “COEXIST” after 10pm on public broadcasting, there were some concerns about the majority of elderly people residing and watching the program that the film was so horrific that it might give them a heart attack, said by the chairman. We don’t think our stuff is that explicit, but to each their own! Now Tran is in California and will be making a new special for Long Beach and LA residents to check out his work going along with The Official Trippy Tran Films Shorts Collection 2008-2015.

The Acting World of Filmmaker Anthony “Rory” Tran

Having a passion for several projects, it’s no surprise that director/writer Anthony T. Tran would delve himself into the world of acting.

“John Doe” premiered today on VEVO, featuring a role by Trippy Tran Films owner Anthony Tran.

When he was 15, MTV came to his high school looking for the next ‘Made’ – a show about every day teenagers wanting to do something with their passion – in which Tran applied to be made into a filmmaker. At the last minute, he changed his mind and selected model instead. During the interview, which was with a lady and a recording camera in an office, the lady asked him why he wanted to be a model. He told her the truth that he is indefinitely passion about film making, but wanted to experience the other side of the camera and also show what he can do in front of the lens.

Tran went to attend Scarlet Oaks Vocational School his junior year of high school where he made several videos including his first attempted feature at the age of 16 called “The Dumbest Horror Flick Ever” and other music videos and projects, taking turns acting for all his classmates projects and then starring in some of his own like the MSI “Prom” cover video he did when he was 17.

In college, he did the same for his classmates and even made cameos in his first short films in 2008 “InPersonNation” and had fun in the “Universal Intelligence” music video by Dok when he attended Brown Mackie College-Cincinnati in the Audio/Video Production program (which will no longer be a program as of September 2015). From 2007-2009, he was in movies like “Crosses To Bare”, “Pizza Boy’s Fantasy”, sang the end to “Cyclone: Behind The Storm” and a cameo as ‘Tiger Woods’.

Reaching out on his own projects, he found opportunity and was then cast as an extra in Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and then in several other videos and projects including Zebras In Public’s “Propaganda” video – which was shot with the newly released Red Cinema 4K camera – giving his debut on VEVO for the first time. VEVO is an industry-only approved video site where all the top artists and celebrities appear. “John Doe” marks his second appearance on VEVO and was made possible with the amazing talent and collaborations with the ‘Rock-N-Soul’ band, Zebras In Public.

Tran is passionate about all aspects of the production process and we plan on seeing more of him in front of the camera soon. Currently, he has auditioned for a web series in Long Beach, CA and is hoping for more opportunities to come. If you would like to cast him for a project, you can email him at Anthony.Rory.Tran@gmail.com

Anthony Tran has currently been added to “Producers to watch 2015” and “Interesting Producers” via Twitter last night. Read his review of the iTunes release of Zebras In Public’s “Paradise Leg”. The album features both singles posted above and in addition, includes the song “Let It Go” – which was chosen for the Obliquity: Imagery of the Unknown soundtrack.

Tran’s “Paradise Leg” Mini-Review
‘Zebras’ Bring Atmospheric Rock & Soul Fusion

If you want a band that really knows music, look no further, Zebras In Public shine in originality and thought-provoking lyrics all while being so fun to listen to.

Favorite songs include “Go” which talks about someone you just want to get away from, “Propaganda”, the first single, has a catchy chorus and really sets a tone, “John Doe” the second single, which I heard the music vid debuts  on VEVO June 9, 2015, a psychedelic story song with hints of inspiration from Pink Floyd with a blues-style funk, “Blown Away” is a high energy party jammer, and “Let It Go”, which is featured in the upcoming indie film “Obliquity: Imagery of the Unknown”, has some real powerful lyrics and shows how mature this band really is, all while still rocking out and having fun.

Definitely check this album out. Lead singer, Zeb, rocks the striped mohawk which is pretty gnarly. Their efforts are definitely a 5/5.  With all the originality and at less than 10 bucks for 14 solid songs, you can’t go wrong. This is a music journey you won’t want to miss.

Other faves: “Sunrise”, “Ladies Rock” and “Change My Life” – really there are a lot of great songs here.
